Goldsboro man splits $392,764 Cash 5 jackpot

Eduardo Redondo Gross of Goldsboro is celebrating after he won half of a $392,764 Cash 5 jackpot.

Redondo Gross bought the $1 ticket at the Murphy Express on N.C. 581 North in Goldsboro. It was one of two to beat odds of one in 749,398 to win Monday’s jackpot.

He claimed the prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. His half of the jackpot is $196,382. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $138,453.  

Edward Burleson Jr. of Elkin claimed the other winning ticket on Tuesday.  

Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million dollars a year for education.

Hey, I was wondering is North Carolina going to do the Powerball cruise again this year? I know last year it was done in March and April for the drawings. NC Lottery
No. The Powerball Cruise is sailing without us this year. Should we sign on again if they do a third?

I wonder if the NC lottery could post the odds of the online second chance games after the winner is posted? I feel that would help ive been playing the second chance games since 2015 an have had no chance or luck at all..... NC Lottery

Yes. The second ticket was sold in Elkins at the Elkin Mart on N.C. 268 West.

LZ - I don't know who proofreads the web site data/entries but mistakes keep showing up in the simplest things. On the dashboard X The Second Chance Feb. 7 drawing a winner is identified as being from "H P, NC". I assume that's High Point but city names are not abbreviated. And on the NCEL 200 Experience prizes it states "NCEL 200 Honrary Starter" Is that "Honery" or "Honorary"? I see the drawing date has been fixed for the first Multiply The Cash drawing. NC Lottery
