Durham woman wins first $200,000 Pay Day top prize

Betty Lowe of Durham is the first person to win the $200,000 top prize in the $200,000 Pay Day scratch-off game.

Lowe bought the $5 ticket at the Trinity Food Mart on West Trinity Avenue in Durham.

She claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $141,003.

$200,000 Pay Day launched in March with four top prizes of $200,000 and 16 prizes of $10,000. Three top prizes and 11 $10,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

First of all congrats Ms. Lowe! Second - my entries are now showing for the April drawings on my dashboard but now the $500 Quick cash is showing the July 2016 drawings and winners in the April 2018 box. This is a simple query and web page display, we shouldn't be seeing these types of errors. I guess the coder's cut and paste method of programming got the best of them... NC Lottery
