Edenton man wins $200,000 instantly

Maurice Fleming of Edenton is celebrating a $200,000 instant win in the Mega Bucks game.

The Chowan County man bought the lucky $5 ticket at the Speedway on Virginia Road in Edenton.

He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $141,003.

Mega Bucks launched in November with seven top prizes of $200,000. Four top prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from draw games like Mega Bucks make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

I have played the same set to f numbers ever since the lottery started and have never won more than a $1.00 on two numbers right. Got to be rigged!

Look over the recent top jackpot winners, virtually every big ticket winner on scratch off games have come from Charlotte, east and in particular within just a rocks throw from the Raliegh area. When you climb the mountain out of old fort into black mtn and stretching all the way to murphy, you rarely find a grand prize winner. I mean its very rare. But the lottery officials have a couple of standard replies: 1. Everyone has an equal chance 2. More population on eastern side and more people play and winning tickets are more likely to circulate in that area?? But its all "random" Tonight, i had the thought of stopping a buying a few tickets and I thought "why should I, even the lottery officials say (without directly saying it) that because of population down east, the likelihood of winning tickets being in and around asheville are extremely low. But then, "everyone has the same chance". Oh, ok, color me dumb. Ps. I didn't buy any tickets, tonight.

Since there are still four top prizes left, this game is still in circulation and does not have a set end date yet.

Congrats to you Maurice, and any other players lucky enuff to win. To all you others out there that like too complain about not trusting the NCEL. Stop complaining or stop playing, it's just that simple. People always say it's rigged cause no one ever wins the PB or MM or LFL in NC. Guess what folks those multi state drawings are not held in NC.!!! So shut the front door and put that theory to sleep for once & for all. Play bingo if you're sure that's not rigged.
