Greenville man tries online play, lucky ticket wins $336,167 Cash 5 jackpot

Zion Robinson of Greenville said he did a double take when he got word that he won Sunday’s $336,167 Cash 5 jackpot.

“I thought I’d only won $336,” Robinson said. “I was like, ‘Okay, that’s nice.’ But then I checked it again, and that’s when I realized how much I won.”

Robinson bought the $1 Quick Pick ticket for Sunday’s drawing using the lottery’s Online Play service. Players who buy tickets online are notified by email if they win.

“It’s a convenient way to play,” Robinson said.
 
Robinson claimed the jackpot Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $237,001. He plans to use some of the money to get a new car.
 
The ticket beat odds of one in 749,398 to win the jackpot. This was the second jackpot in a row won by a ticket purchased through online play.

Ok...im asking again can NCEL please add the fireball play option to to the pick3 and pick 4 games perminately...and just do away with greenball and red ball bull...NC Lottery

This has nothing to do woth the above topic but I can’t add finds to the wallet using the app or online. This has happened before, one time i was able to but just tried again and says its declined. JB, why do you say double taxation??? NCEL takes out taxes for the IRS, they don't keep any of it!!! You get a W2 form so when you file your taxes you have prove that the taxes have been taken out. Winnings are considered income. Same as the W2 you get from your employer. They don't get the taxes taken out, the IRS does.

Congratulations Zion Roberson and to the folks that feel that the lottery is rigged, simply quit playing. It's not a difficult decision at all. The comments and opinions people have when they don't win amaze me. Sounds like adults tantrums in effect.

Hi Candace- The ticket was bought online, which means it wasn't sold at a "specific" location. The winner is from Greenville though.

Hey Jim, When a winner receives their prize, we automatically take out the minimum state and federal taxes of 24% for federal and 5.499% for state.

Hey SW, I hope your #s come out some day. I too play my same #s everyday, just like hundreds of thousands of other players do. So is it rigged against all of us. I don't think so. Don't be that player that says like so many others always do "my #s came out last night & I forgot to play".

Congrats. I play these lucky numbers all the time. Never have they come out since the game started in 2006. 13,14,21,31,32.Always 1 nber off I wonder why. Rigged. Maybe one day they will suddenly come out
