$200,000 lottery prize will let retired school cook take dream trip to Jamaica

Carolyn Taylor of Kinston said she’s going to take a dream trip to Jamaica after she won a $200,000 lottery prize.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Taylor exclaimed. “I’m just going to take off and go.”

The retired school cook’s good luck happened Saturday when she asked her son-in-law to get her some lottery tickets.

“He’s always playing,” Taylor said. “So I figured I’d ask him to get me some.”

He stopped at Jeet 2003 Food Inc. on N.C. 42 in Clayton and bought Taylor a $200,000 Pay Day scratch-off ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the first zero,” Taylor described. “I was afraid to keep scratching, but the zeros kept coming. I would have been happy with $10, but this is amazing!”

Taylor claimed her prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $141,003.

OKAY, but in the past when ever 2nd chance tickets were delivered early we still could not enter them into the drawings till the expected delivery date of the 1st Tuesday of the month.

LZ, How can the Carolina Cash Second Chance drawing start 6/01 when the tickets don't go on sale till 6/05 ?NC Lottery
New tickets are often delivered to retailers before the official release date. Because of this, retailers will sometimes put the new tickets on display early. While this doesn't happen often, we still want our players to be able to enter the Second Chance drawings as soon as they purchase their tickets, so we display the promotion online in the days leading up to release.

Ha, Ha DG - you are spot on! LZ- I see the filter function on the Lucke-Rewards Drawings page has been fixed however there are drawings in the 10X Quick Cash, April Showers and $500 Quick Cash that are still labeled as active even though they are expired. I don't know if you manually change the status to expired or if it is scripted but it needs to be fixed. Also on the Second Chance page there is a new second chance called Carolina Cash Second Chance that I assume starts June 1 but you have not published any rules or advertisements, why? Normally you advertise new second chance promotions well in advance.NC Lottery

Before my east coast friend Mike S (87spg), corrects me , No 7-14-21-28-35 has never come out. On Dec 9th 2009 the cash5 was 7-14-21-27-35 and 2 players hit and split $661k and also that night 409 other players got some combination of 4 out of 5 for only $87. Seems they were very popular #s.

CONGRATS !!! I was very bored today so I starting thinking about players saying the #s they play everyday year after year never come up. So I looked up a certain set of #s just to see the results from the very start of cash5. 2&3 of 5 came out very often. All 5 came out once back in 2009, 2players split a JP of $661K and 409 players got 4 that night for $87 each. In 2008 the JP was $50k no one hit all 5, but 146 players got 4 for $87. Just saying just cause you have been playing the same #s for 10 years and they have never come up does not mean the lottery is rigged. The #s I checked were 7-14-21-28-35. Chose those #s because the common denominator was lucky #7.
