Don’t miss your second chance for an “Extreme” $1 million win

After producing three $10 million wins and eighteen $1 million wins, the Extreme Millions scratch-off is offering another second chance to make a millionaire.

The third second-chance draw is scheduled for Sept. 5. Besides the top prize of $1 million, three $50,000 prizes and twenty-five $500 prizes will be awarded.

Make sure you enter your ticket before midnight on Aug. 31 to be eligible for the drawing. Over 1.1 million entries have already been made. The $1 million winners in the first two second-chance draws were Eddie Nations from King and Jesse Callahan of Greensboro.

Hi Angela, Are you referring to the Lucke-Rewards drawings? We don't currently have any second-chance promotions for our Mega Millions or Powerball games. If you are collecting points from your tickets, you'll need to also visit the Lucke-Rewards page here: https://drawings.nclottery.com/drawing/landing.php. Once there, you can use those points to enter the Lucke-Rewards drawing that you are interested in. If you are selected as a winner, we'll email you. Hope this helps!

Hi Marvin! Second chance drawing winners are first contacted via the email that is listed on your online play account. If we are unable to get in contact with the player via email, we will follow up with a phone call and then will send certified mail if necessary. Initial contact with winners is typically completed within 48 hours of the draw date. So, for Extreme Millions that was drawn on Wednesday, winners should receive an email before the end of the day today.

I have some questions about the averages. For example, on average how many tickets are entered into players club vs sold? Does the percentage change based upon ticket price or size of 2nd Chance prize? Are there industry journals or articles that discuss player behavior trends? Final question: I seem to recall that there was a response about getting the updated 2nd Chance entry numbers regularly out to the player community. Is there any update on the plans? I'd love a new section of the site that has that info. NC Lottery

You might be correct Zachary. I do know i have bought so many extreme million and other tickets this year and last year, its crazy. I have probably spent 20,000 in those tickets trying out DIFFERENT stores. Even buying entire books of them, just to only win $100 when i spent $900 or $600 so i just stop playing all together.

LZ, your reply to Zachary is incorrect in that NCEL does a post game audit on scratch-off games. NCEL's response of 7/19/17 to my inquiry of the Multiplier Spectacular (Game 380), NCEL Legal Counsel specifically stated "I want to clarify that the NCEL does not perform any post-game audit for our instant scratch-off games." Unless you now do post-game audits on scratch-offs you are giving false information.NC Lottery

When we spoke with you last fall about the Multiplier Spectacular game, we mentioned that we used the term "post-game audit" instead of the more complicated term “end-of-game reconciliation process”. @ZACHARY H.: Hi Zachary, It's important to remember that the odds of winning on a scratch-off ticket that are stated on the ticket are for the entire printing run of the game. This means that winning and non-winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire game, not multiple tickets in a row. All instant games are audited before and after the game to ensure the game is as advertised. Everyone on this thread should just take your $30.00 you’re spending on these tickets, soak it in gasoline and light it on fire! The odds on the back of the tickets are NOT correct! When one buys on average, 20 tickets per month and is lucky to get one, maybe two tickets that are break even, these odds are misrepresented! If I could attach my submitted tickets you would see that I’m telling the truth! All we’re doing is paying for these lottery executives to live lavishly, hardly for education!NC Lottery

I won prizes several times when the LZ first started and the giveaways were items, such as hats, clothing and even an ipod cooler. Since it went to point basis and money involved, I haven't stood a chance. I still enter because, well, why wouldn't I? Maybe one day my luck will once again come around for the positive!

On second chance drawings, does it matter if I enter all of tickets at once or should I spread them out over time to increase odds. Do you draw one winner for a time period like some other drawings I'm aware of? For example, 1/1 - 1/15 (one winner) 1/15-1/30 (one winner) and so on. Then take those winners and draw again. Hi Susan, That's a great question! It does not make a difference whether you submit all of your entries at once or spread them out over the entry period. All of the entries are assigned a number and then a random number is selected. Hope this helps!

Thanks DG, let me give you some insight into my predictions. Everyday I print out the remaining prizes every day then use my 1958 Olivetti Lettera with 3 part carbon paper to record the numbers. Then using my slide rule, a little calculus and the moon's angle of declination, or inclination depending on the phase of the moon (which I get from NASA every morning at 4:30 AM when I get up), I then calculate the number of entries based on the mood of blogger posts.

Hi Lavondia, When you scan your ticket into the Lucke-Rewards app for your points, you will be automatically entered into the applicable second-chance drawing for that ticket. If you navigate to the "Draws" page and select the "Second Chance" tab at the top, you should be able to see which drawings you have entries for and how many. Hi, Thomas. First, the entry numbers are assigned according to the time the tickets are entered into the drawing. The ticket number has no bearing on the entry number assigned. Promotional and second-chance drawings are held using a random number generator according to specific security procedures. To ensure fairness to all players, all lottery drawings are done with an auditor present and all the lottery’s security practices are independently reviewed on a regular basis. You are welcome to attend any drawing, including drawings for games Like Cash 5 and second-chance and lucke-rewards drawings. We have thought about sharing a video of a draw process, but the process is just long, tedious, and boring that people wouldn't be very entertained. But we will pass along the suggestion to the folks who make that decision. It's always good to know what our players would like to see from us!

I have two questions: First Question: I would like to know how the online draws works when I enter them in the Lucke Zone. For example if submit 25 entries for a drawing like the Cash Splash. I receive a message showing how many entries I submitted but it only gives me one entry number at the top of the message instead of 25 numbers (or the range or entry numbers). I assume the next players entry will begin 25 numbers after mine?.. Second question: What procedure is used to select the winner(s) for these online drawings. How are the winner(s) randomly selected? Only with the multiple the cash games does the amount of draws disappear. Why? When a drawing closes, none of the other games's draws disappear. I thought someone was taking my numbers for themselves...maybe? Please explain. NC Lottery
Hi, Angel. Blog moderators aren't too sure what you're asking and we want to make sure we answer correctly and help. But from what we can tell, you're talking about your entries into lucke-rewards and second-chance drawings, correct? You entries are all yours! Make sure you select the "Second-Chance" tab. The draws page defaults to Lucke-Rewards entries. The Multiply the Cash promotion is a second-chance promotion. Then select "All" from the drop down, as it defaults to only active entries.

Couldn't help but laugh at the response given about the Pick 3s and Pick 4's. There have been a couple of incidents of technical difficulties the past few weeks with drawings. Also what are the odds of the same set of numbers being drawn two consecutive times? My biggest question is why to have three pre-draws each time before the actual drawing that counts?NC Lottery
Hi John, The reason we conduct 3 pre-draws is to verify that the ball machine is functioning properly and there are no other concerns with it or the ball set that have been chosen at random for the drawing. Pre-draws are standard in the lottery industry and are also observed and recorded by the independent auditor. NC Lottery brings out the worst Pick 3s and Pick 4s Ive ever seen. Its like they purposely draw the least payout number daily. Va is bringing these beautiful and popular numbers every week and giving back to their players big time.
