Sampson County woman to buy dream truck with $250,000 lottery prize

Lois Parker of Clinton says she can’t wait to buy her dream truck after winning a $250,000 lottery prize playing the $250,000 Platinum Payout scratch-off game.

“I’ve always wanted just a big truck,” Parker said upon being presented with her big check. “That’s what I’ll do first. Then I might get a car or something.”

Parker purchased the lucky ticket from the Minuteman Food Mart on Lisbon Road in Clinton. Not wanting to wait until she got home, she started scratching her ticket right in the store.

“I started scratching and got excited,” Parker said recalling the moment. “Then I kept scratching and saw the amount and said, ‘This can’t be true. Wow!’ I scanned the ticket at the ticket checker in the store just to make sure!”

She claimed her prize Wednesday from lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $176,254.

“I couldn’t sleep at all last night,” Parker said laughing. “I doubt I will be able to sleep tonight!”

The $5 ticket launched in September 2016 with six top prizes of $250,000. One top prize remains.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education. JG, click on drawings and promotions, then click on "more" on the pink flamingo. The weekly and monthly lucky rewards drawings come up ,you just need to scroll down. Also, click on draws icon after you log in , click on 2nd chance, on pull down tab, click off "my" and choose "all".

I agree with commenter Berry B. A lot of the top scratcher prizes are won in smaller towns.

The lottery bureau should cease sales of scratch off games when top prizes have all been won. The comment stating lower prizes still available is b.s. as we buy tix for chance to win top prize. Lottery knows that not a lot of people research web site for available top prize left and they take advantage of that. Shame on you NCEL!!!

why is $10 million fever still being sold even though there is no top prize left!? I see on the web site the game is ending soon! NCEL should not sell a ticket if their is no top prize, this is why people complain about the lottery.NC Lottery
Hi Greg, The last top prize for this game was won very recently, and we are taking steps to end the game -- the end date has been set for the end of next month. However, there are still many other prizes left in the game that can be won! We update the "prizes remaining" information on our website every single day so that our players can make an informed decision about which games they would like to play.
