Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are on the rise!

Excitement is rising here at the lottery as both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots continue to swell.

Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot has hit $252 million, or $148.6 if taken as a lump sum. On Wednesday, the Powerball jackpot stands at $163 million, or $96.4 million in cash.

We’ve had six jackpot winners from North Carolina, and are hoping for number seven. 

So far, four North Carolinians have won the Powerball jackpot, with wins ranging from $74.5 to $188 million, and two people have won the Mega Millions jackpot, taking home prizes of $12 million and $57 million.

Even if you don’t win the jackpot, you still have a chance at winning a big prize. There are nine ways to win when you play either game.

How is the winner notified if the winning ticket is purchased online?NC Lottery
Hi Laura, players that win in online play will receive an email alerting them that they won. If the amount is under $600 it will be deposited directly into the player's wallet so they can withdraw it. If the winnings are $600 or more, they would need to fill out and submit a claim form.

Hey La Verne, While we have not had a jackpot winner come though our subscription service yet, we have had a few five-figure prize winners for both Mega Millions and Powerball! So far, we've had two $10,000 and one $30,000 Mega Millions wins, as well as two $10,000 and one $50,000 Powerball wins. It's not easier or harder to win depending if you buy online or at a store, the odds are always the same. It's just that the number of subscription players is very, very small compared to the vast amount of tickets that are sold in stores. Hope this helps!
