Back Scratch ticket family is exciting on front and surprising on back

There’s nothing like a good back scratch, and this First Tuesday, we’re introducing the first family of games with the Back Scratch feature.

Most scratch-offs leave all the chances to win on the front, but these new Back Scratch tickets are different. Just turn them over, and SURPRISE! The back has more chances to win.

$1,000,000 Back Scratch: This $10 ticket gives you five extra chances to win when you turn it over. It offers five top prizes of $1 million and over $43 million in total prizes. The odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 1.2 million. Overall odds including breakeven prizes are 1 in 3.53.

$200,000 Back Scratch: This $5 ticket gives you five extra chances to win when you turn it over. It offers four top prizes of $200,000 and over $16 million in total prizes. The odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 1.2 million. Overall odds including breakeven prizes are 1 in 4.14.

$50,000 Back Scratch: This $2 ticket gives you four extra chances to win when you turn it over. It offers five top prizes of $50,000 and over $7 million in total prizes. The odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 1.2 million. Overall odds including breakeven prizes are 1 in 4.38.

$10,000 Back Scratch: This $1 ticket gives you three extra chances to win when you turn it over. It offers six top prizes of $10,000 and over $4 million in total prizes. The odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 1.2 million. Overall odds including breakeven prizes are 1 in 4.74.

I love it i won once, could not collect my prize due to interference of someone signed off on my mail, and didn't give me the letter until it was too late to collect my prize No i don't play much only when i get tbe chance. I would have to say that I agree with William A's assessment about the lottery taking better care of it's players. The point redemption and entering for second chances are a sham with people entering up to 75 tickets per day-no one buys that many tickets everyday! If so they absolutely have a gambling problem. Nice to own or work at a convenience store I guess. NCEL needs to quit worrying about breaking record after record every year! The goal is to hurry and reach that 1billion dollar mark-but unfortunately this is at the expense of the people that made it successful in the first place! Drop the second chance entries,think long term profits and give more back. Please don't mention your 67% payback-it's not as much as you think. As always-thank you for your forum.

Wow five $5 back scratch and not a winner. Another $25 profit for someone in this lottery just not for me as usual. Don't insult your players with all these odds, we are a little smarter than you think well maybe not keep on playing. I think I will quit here and stay with Virginia lottery at least I win and their odds are what they say.NC Lottery
Hi Jackie, The stated odds are for the entire game, not a particular roll of tickets; it's entirely possible for there to be many non-winning tickets (or winning tickets) in a row. Playing the lottery is all a matter of luck, but if you don't enjoy playing then we respect your decision not to play.

I don’t understand as successful as the lottery has been WHY they would put out a 30 dollar ticket with worse odds and less major prizes. I scratch at least $150.00 a week and wish the lottery would take better care of their players if I was at a casino I would be a diamond player and get some kind of better benefits. Take care of your players that spend that extra money that has made the lottery so successful.NC Lottery

Wish they would not put all winners on back just to find $2.00 winners under each one. I feel as though on these tickets at least $5.00 could be under them. This is getting to be a racket and people like myself are losing too much money. You say play for the fun of it well nobody does that we all play on the hope to win, and especially on the second chance drawings but these are worse than the actual tickets. I just believe the lottery can do better on these pay outs.

Hey Zachary, The new Colossal Cash game had approximately 16.27 million tickets printed. Let's pretend there were only 100 tickets for the entire game and the odds are 1 in 4. That would mean 25 of the tickets would win prizes, and 75 do not. When you scale that up to millions of tickets and distribute winning tickets at random throughout the game, it is entirely possible to get many non-winning or winning tickets in a row. It's just a matter of luck!

What is the trick to scanning one's driver's license at Lottery machine? I've had problems scanning in a Harris Teeter and a Food Lion. I hold my license as indicated under the light but never get the go ahead to purchase tickets. I have stopped trying to purchase at the machines. NC Lottery
Hi Beverly, Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the vending machines! We have a few suggestions to try and solve this. First, double check that you are scanning a driver's license, and not a state ID. Next, ensure that you are scanning the larger barcode on the back of your license. If that does not solve the issue, we always recommend finding the manager at that retail location and asking them for help. They might be able to see something in person that can help solve it.
