Holidays just got happier for Montgomery County man

This year’s holiday season just got happier for Willard Goldsborough of Montgomery County after he won the first top prize of $150,000 in the Happy Holidays game.

Goldsborough, who lives in Candor, bought the $5 ticket at the Tobacco & Beverage Outlet on North Main Street in Candor. He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $106,126.

The Happy Holidays game started in November with three top prizes of $150,000. Two top prizes remain to be won.

In reference to @CHARLENE W's comment, I've probably been entering these drawings online just as long, if not longer, and I've never won either, not even a hundred bucks when they have like a gazillion winners. SMH! I'm actually entering more often now than I used to so we'll see if it matters or not.

I don't know about any one else but I have been trying for a week to enter my ticket # for the 2nd Chance Drawing but it won't let me. I have been in touch with customer support several times and they claim there is an issue with the web site. Very disappointing.NC Lottery
Hi Linda, We're not aware of any widespread issue with entering tickets right now. Is there a specific error you are receiving when you try to enter your ticket? Also, is it one specific ticket that is having trouble, or all of your tickets?

Hey Patricia, Entering is easy! All you have to do is get yourself an eligible scratch-off ticket. Once you log into your NC Lottery account, you can scan or manually enter the ticket to collect points. By doing that, you will be automatically entered into the drawing associated with that ticket. Congrats on the wins, Angela! Be sure to enter your ticket into Lucke-Rewards before you claim your winnings. Just open the app or your account on the computer and scan or manually enter the ticket like you do for points. By doing that, you will be automatically entered into the second-chance drawing for that game. Good luck!
