Do you know a School Hero? Someone who makes our schools run so our students can achieve success. It could be a teacher, an office assistant, a custodian, a coach, a principal or a superintendent.

For the next six weeks, you can nominate your School Hero in a special contest created by the N.C. Education Lottery to recognize School Heroes for what they do. By sharing your story about a School Hero, you could help them and their school each win a $10,000 prize. And if the person you nominate is one of the 10 winners, you’ll get a check for $1,000.

The N.C. School Heroes campaign starts today with an inspiring ad celebrating the work of School Heroes and a new website, ncschoolheroes.com.

You can see the video here:

We invite you to go to ncschoolheroes.com and nominate a School Hero who has made a difference in your life or the lives of your students.

Money raised by the lottery assists the work of many of those School Heroes, including $385 million this year that supports the work of school support staff such as office assistants and custodians. This year the money also helps build and repairs schools, supports the N.C. Pre-K program for at-risk four-year-olds, provides college scholarships and grants based on financial need, and supports school transportation.

As you post your School Hero nomination or read other nominations and vote on the ones you like the best, you get the chance to see how the lottery supports education programs in your community. We hope you like our School Heroes contest.

Please share the news about the School Heroes campaign with your family and friends. We know there are a lot of School Heroes out there.

Hello. Someone else nominated me and I would like to have the second nomination taken down as these votes will not be counted and are confusing to people that vote. Can you please keep up my nomination that has my picture (nominated by Martina Vu) and take down the one without my picture (Nominated by AJ Savage)? Thank you.NC Lottery
Hi Judy, Congrats on being nominated as a North Carolina School Hero! Please have AJ email moderator@ncschoolheroes.com to request the nomination he submitted be taken town.

To whom this may concern: I wrote a nice message for my son teacher nomination. However, when I submitted the message it was missing a major portion of the short paragraph and it sounds and look bad. Can I please fix this please? I had no idea everyone would see this and I didn’t know that the school would be notified of the nomination. I’m embarrassed Please email me *email removed* NC Lottery
Hi Niyoki, For security purposes, nominations cannot be edited once they have been submitted. I understand, and thank you for the information. If I choose to leave the nomination as is, will the incorrect county impede the teacher or school's opportunity to win? NC Lottery
Hi Elaine, It won't impede his or her chances of winning, but it will make it difficult for folks to find him or her when they are looking to cast their vote.

Hi - I nominated a teacher for the NC Heroes contest, but mistakenly chose the wrong county. Her principal wishes to share in school, but asked if I could change the county on the nomination? NC Lottery

Can pick 3 and pick 4 slips get an update? Like SC Lottery. Where the same quick number is pick for both drawings. Also still not receiving nightly drawing results by email. I called customer service and they said they will email me. Its been a week and still no email. I use hotmail. There is a problem. Wonder if this is affecting second chance drawings! THX! NC Lottery
Hey Chester, Not to worry, if you were to win a second-chance or Lucke-Rewards drawing, our team would attempt to contact you through multiple ways (email, phone, letter). As for the email with the nightly drawing results, first you will want to make sure that we are on your "Safe Senders" list, that way, the emails don't get filtered out as spam. Here is a link to directions on how to do that: https://nclottery.com/PickNotifications. On that page you can also set up your preferences for which results you wish to receive.
