Four tickets sold in N.C. win $50,000 in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing

If you play Powerball, check your tickets! Four tickets sold in North Carolina won $50,000 prizes in Wednesday’s drawing. The lucky tickets were bought at the following locations.

•    Quality Mart on N.C. 68 North, Oak Ridge (Guilford County)
•    Food Lion on Burlington Road, Whitsett (Guilford County)
•    Joe's Sports Bar & Grill on Exchange Street NW, Concord (Cabarrus County)
•    Buy and Go on Ploof Road, Leland (Brunswick County)

In Wednesday’s drawing, 149,377 tickets sold in North Carolina won prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000.

A ticket sold in Wisconsin won the $768.4 million annuity jackpot. It’s the third highest Powerball jackpot on record.

This jackpot created some big prizes for players, but also resulted in some big wins for education. Since the jackpot started on Dec. 29, it raised an estimated $19 million for the state education fund.

Ticket sales from jackpot games like Powerball make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $650 million a year for education.

It's so awesome to read the stories of the winners! I love when good things happen to people! I hope that the lottery will continue to bless those who both purchase and who are recipients of the education lottery funding in school systems state wide. My only complaint is...winners seem to be in the same areas, Raleigh, Durham, Concord, Charlotte, Fayetteville-Northeast NC, the rural counties and districts, seem to rarely have any jackpot or large winners on scratchers or the Cash 5 or Lucky for Life. When I purchase tickets-the lines are always backed up-all with hopes of winning more than $10 here or $25 there. Spread the wealth and remember the rural NC areas in Northeast NC! I am not talking about Greenville-Pitt County area or even Rocky Mount-I am talking about Hertford, Bertie, Gates, Pasquotank, Chowan, Northampton, Halifax...we need more winners over here! #crossingfingers for better luck for all the players in this area! Congratulations to the winners! It's a true blessing! :-)
