Instead of celebrating April Fool’s Day with a joke, Quyen Le of Fayetteville is celebrating with a $1 million lottery prize.
Le’s good fortune happened Monday when she stopped at the Reilly Road LLC on North Reilly Road in Fayetteville and bought a Big Money Playbook.
Le claimed her prize the same day at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. She had the choice of taking a $1 million annuity that has 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum. After federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $424,506.
The Big Money Playbook launched in December with three top prizes of $1 million. One top prize remains. The $20 playbook has six pages of unique games. This is the first time the lottery has offered a playbook with multiple games.
Ticket sales from games like the Big Money Playbook make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $650 million a year for education. For details on how $22.6 million in lottery funds made a difference in Cumberland County last year, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
