Lucky 7's, 7-7-7-7, produce $6.6 million win for Pick 4 players

The numbers 7-7-7-7 in Monday afternoon’s Carolina Pick 4 drawing added up to a $6.6 million win for lottery players.

The drawing produced 1,770 winning tickets that matched all four numbers. The game’s top prize of $5,000 will go to players who hold one of the 907 winning $1 tickets purchased for the drawing. A $2,500 prize will go to players who hold one of the 863 winning 50 cent tickets.

The winning numbers, 7-7-7-7, are known as “Quads” among players of the Pick 4 game. Quads are some of the most popular combination of numbers played. The odds of matching all four numbers in a Pick 4 drawing are 1 in 10,000.

The prizes can be claimed at one of the six lottery’s regional offices. The offices open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

Lottery officials remind winners that they have 180 days to claim their prizes. Due to the large number of winners, players should expect extended waiting times to complete their claims if they choose to visit a regional office on Tuesday and Wednesday. Players must bring a Photo ID and proof of their Social Security number to complete their claims. Prizes can also be claimed by mail.

It is the second largest payout in prizes in the game's history. The record Pick 4 win occurred on Aug. 11, 2012 when the numbers 1-1-1-1 paid out $7.5 million in prizes.

Drawings in the Carolina Pick 4 game are held twice a day, at 3 p.m. and at 11:22 p.m. Players can either pick their own numbers or select a Quick Pick by allowing the lottery terminal to generate a set of four numbers for them.

Hey Melinda, You can check your tickets by visiting any lottery retailer and scanning them or by downloading the lottery app and using the ticket checker feature. Hope this helps!

@SCHMEKA W: Hi Schmeka, You bring up a great question, and we wanted to take this opportunity to share some info about how the odds of draw games work. Just because the odds are 1 in 10,000 does not mean that after 10,000 draws that number is guaranteed to be drawn. It means that each and every draw, every single combination of numbers has a 1 in 10,000 chance of being drawn. That's the same whether it was drawn yesterday, last month or never. Our draw machines are not connected to any mechanism that could "tell" them what numbers to pick and we have independent auditors present to verify that each and every drawing is conducted fairly according to strict security procedures.

Well if the odds are 1 in 10,000 why the quads never come out they should come more often not just every other year. So Know to make up for the money y'all have to put out for the 7777 coming out y'all will be playing wierd numbers in pick 3 n 4 something nobody plays I know how the lottery work I use to work at one in Maryland NC and y'all not what to tell the machine to pick. Thanks for asking, Marvin. At this time we don't have plans to add Pick 3 or Pick 4 to Online Play, but we will share your feedback with the folks who handle those decisions.
