Ring in the New Year in Times Square

Imagine this. You and a friend are in New York City on New Year’s Eve watching the ball drop in Times Square. You’re both counting down the seconds until the giant screen lights up with ‘2020’ and you’re yelling “Happy New Year!” at the top of your lungs. It’s January 1st and you, along with five other finalists, are waiting for the big announcement.

“Powerball’s First Millionaire of 2020 is…..”

Starting in July, the North Carolina Education Lottery joins Powerball and dick clark productions to provide North Carolinians a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime VIP Experience to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

So, what’s included?

Two round-trip airline tickets to NYC.
Three nights’ hotel stay at Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan hotel.
Two tickets to see the “Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes” at Radio City Music Hall.
Tickets for a Hudson River holiday dinner cruise.
Two tickets to an exclusive New Year’s Eve gala where you’ll watch the ball drop.
Two $100 gift bags.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinners during your three-night stay.
$1,000 in spending money.
Ground transportation to and from the hotel, airports, and activities.

You’re probably thinking, “THIS IS AMAZING! How do I enter??”

Great question. The promotion is scheduled to start July 1 and you can enter all eligible Powerball draw tickets purchased between July 1 and August 31 into two drawings. We’ll announce ten winners in the first drawing Aug 7 and the other ten Sept 3.
All eligible tickets MUST have a minimum $10 spend.

If you want a ‘rockin’’ 2020, don’t drop the ball! Keep an eye on our website this summer for your chance to win!

Hi Denver, thanks again for breaking it down. It would be helpful to enter the contest if they bump the limit to 5 tickets. Also, the label "QP Express" on the Online Play screen is misleading as it could be either quick pick or pick your own numbers.

How do you enter your Powerball tickets for the drawing if you purchase them online? NC Lottery
Hi Derma! Once the entry period opens, any ticket bought through online play that meets the minimum requirements will be automatically entered into the drawing. You should receive a notification of your entry when that happens.

SK, They had a similar contest last year. Bottom line is you must make a $10 purchase to get one entry. Whether it be online or in a store. Do NOT buy 5 single tickets. Those $2 tickets will not get you an entry. Also if you are so inclined to spend $20, do not get that on 1 ticket. Buy two $10 tickets and you will get 2 tickets each one good for 1 entry. Also I have asked in the past for online purchase to be more then just 3 at a time, to no avail. Also if you do a multi draw online for $100, you will NOT get 10 entries , just one.

Hi DENVER, Thanks for the tip. Not sure the logic behind the limitation of adding a maximum of 3 at a time to the cart but allowing multiple adds. NC Lottery, why is that? Thanks.NC Lottery
Hi Srinivasa, We just wanted to let you know that we are working to find the answer to your question and will update you once we hear back from the folks who handle our online play system. Thanks! UPDATE: Hey Srinivasa, When the Online Play system was created several years ago, system limitations prevented us from being able to have more than three at a time. We are working on adding some improvements to the system soon that we hope will address this!

Hey SRINIVASA, You are not limited to only 3 tickets. Just get 3 ,then at least 2 more before proceeding to check out. As long as your purchase is at least $10 you will be good to go.

Where do you find out who won the drawings for bonus lottery picks; it tells when they are going to be drawn but never who won or if someone won and where. Can you tell where to go to see? NC Lottery
Hi there Levon! If you're referring to our second-chance and Lucke-Rewards drawings, the winners can be found on our Draws page: https://rewards.nclottery.com/drawings. Be sure to select "All" from the drop-down menu and then deselect the "My Entries" checkbox to see all of them. Hope this helps!

NC Lottery, how about the online play? I won't meet the $10 spend even with power play when I am limited to 3 tickets. It takes a multi draw to meet the $10 spend limit. NC Lottery

Nope, won't be playing at 10 bucks per entry. I like to play Powerball, but not a 10 dollar ticket. By the time I was even a contender, I could have paid for the trip myself. Seems like you're actually encouraging people to spend even more on a game that's tough to win.
