Asheville man wins $100,000 lottery prize

Kenneth Thomas of Asheville is celebrating after he won $100,000 playing the $4,000,000 Platinum Payout scratch-off game.

Thomas purchased the lucky $20 ticket at the One Stop on Haywood Road in Hendersonville.

He claimed his prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal withholdings, he took home $70,756. Thomas says the win will put him in a better place financially.

“With this win, we’re well on our way,” said Thomas. “I’d also like to spend some of it on my grandbabies, get them something nice.”

Ticket sales from instant games like $4,000,000 Platinum Payout make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $650 million a year for education. For details on how $11.8 million in lottery funds made a difference Buncombe County last year, visit the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

Well, if he really found this winning ticket in a trash, I see nothing wrong with it. The person who threw away this ticket should pay more attention. There are scanners everywhere, and players should scan every ticket they buy. Finders keepers, losers weepers.

S)he didnt buy the ticket he found it in the trash at the car wash. I know him and ldive in the same town and everyone knows he didnt buy it he just got lucky with an incredible find. I do hope you do change your life because you definitely wasnt trying to before this lucky incident.
