New Jersey man wins $100,000 playing 100X the Cash

Junde Zhang of Hopatcong, New Jersey, won $100,000 playing 100X The Cash.

Zhang bought the lucky $20 ticket at the Family Fare on South Miami Boulevard in Durham.

He claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state withholdings, Zhang took home $70,756.

X The Cash tickets are eligible as entries into second-chance drawings to win big prizes. Players can enter their tickets up until July 31 for the chance to win. Our Aug. 7 drawing includes one top prize of $50,000, eight prizes of $5,000, and 25 prizes of $500.

Ticket sales from instant games like 100X The Cash make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $650 million a year for the state. For details on how $13.8 million in lottery funds have made a difference in Durham County, visit the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

I agree with Brian C. I've had a ticket or two, I knew I had winnings on and the self scanner said it I didn't. I ended up taking it to an actual store clerk instead. Also, some machines say Invalid when scan ID, but it's fine at other locations. One store is the Food Lion on TW Alexander in Durham/Morrisville that has the DL ID Invalid msg but otherwise no issue. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the ticket checkers, Kathleen.We never want players to scan a ticket and get wrong information. If this happens again, please immediately let us know with specific details about where you’re at so we can look into it further. As for your second issue, we have a few suggestions to try and solve this. First, double check that you are scanning a driver's license, and not a state ID. Next, ensure that you are scanning the larger barcode on the back of your license. If that does not solve the issue, we always recommend finding the manager at that retail location and asking them for help.

Congrats on your Big Win. I've been going through bpoks at a time and can't even find a small claimer. But I did have 2 winning Keno tickets the other day. Checked them both on a self checker at the store. It said I only had one winner but when the clerk checked it I had 2. Wonder how many people check their tickets, are told they are losers (when they are not) and throw them away. Is that how Lotto makes extra money? Why don't the self checkers work cortectly?NC Lottery
Hi Brian, With the exception of our daily maintenance between 2-5 a.m., our ticket checkers should be functioning properly all the time. We never want players to scan a ticket and get wrong information. If this happens again, please immediately let us know with specific details about where you're at so we can look into it further.

I am having problems with the new app, too. When I scan a code for points I am told I already entered the points when I know I have not. When I make a purchase, my numbers are appearing twice. With the exception of the first time I have been able to remove the duplicates. There is certainly a glitch in the new software.NC Lottery

For some reason when I download the updated version for the app to check tickets and collect points its giving me a problem. I am using the same phone but only this time I don't have the viewfinder showing and it will only scan one ticket and stop working. After the one ticket I have to enter them manually.
