Randolph County man wins $133,675 playing Carolina Cash 5

Del Spencer of Asheboro won a $133,675 jackpot in the Carolina Cash 5 drawing on Feb. 15.

Spencer bought the lucky ticket at the Speedway on West Fairfield Road in High Point.

Spencer claimed his ticket Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal withholding, he took home $94,575.

Cash 5 is a statewide draw game that gives players the chance to win a jackpot every single night. Tickets cost $1 and players can buy tickets at most lottery retailers and through Online Play on the lottery’s website.

Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $650 million a year for education. For details on how $8.7 million in lottery funds made a difference in Randolph County last year, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

Question: If ever you win like the jackpot it says in the terms and conditions that you need to fill up the form and sign the ticket. What if you used the mobile app to purchase the ticket then you dont have a ticket a sign. I cant find any answer from the intenet...NC Lottery
Hi Kristian, if you were to win a prize of $600 or more playing online, you would have to claim it at a lottery regional office like any other lottery ticket. We contact winners via email, phone and mail to let them know they won. When they come into a regional office, they would need to bring identification that matches their online play profile to claim the prize.

Might ought to empty out my reward points for the June drawing and go easy on July. 1-winner only. Nothing wrong with that at all,but 5-winners in June excites me more. Can't complain about free money as I won once for 1,000.00.

Hey Julia, We just got word of next month’s drawings! The Lucke-Rewards drawings that are available for July are under the theme “Some Like it Hot”. The monthly drawing will have one winner of $15,000 and the weekly drawings will each have 10 winners of $100. Good luck!

How do you know if you "winner notified- to be announced"?NC Lottery
Hey Kiana, winners are typically notified within 48 of the drawing and the first notification goes to the email you use with your Lucke-Zone account so keep that up-to-date. The lottery will also send a certified letter. So if the lottery misses you with the email and phone call, you'll still get the letter. We want everyone to get the prizes they win.

When I submit my tickets using the online app, I get a message saying I already entered the ticket I just purchased. When I check the ticket number, I see that it is the last entry in my account. Is anyone else having this same issue?NC Lottery
Hi Leatha, are you purchasing your tickets online when this occurs? If you are purchasing them online they are automatically entered in to your account and you are not required to submit them again. If you are scanning the tickets in when this occurs please give our online support team a call at 1-855-767-1863 and they should be able to help.

Great win. Congrats... If a person were to win any prizes thru online play or store purchases by entering Cash 5 or any tickets, would that take them out of any chance to win a second chance prize? NC Lottery
Hi Quentin, winning a prize on a ticket doesn't harm your chance of winning a Second Chance prize. As long as there is a Second Chance drawing associated with the ticket purchased you will still have a chance to win a Second Chance prize when the ticket is entered!
