Family of seven gets lucky with Cash 5 jackpot win

The family that plays together wins together! Seven lucky members of the Knudsen family can vouch for that. Together they won a $777,769 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot.

The family of seven purchased the lucky $1 Quick Pick ticket for the June 11 drawing at Taz’s on South Wilmington Street in Raleigh.

The Knudsen family claimed their prizes Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. They shared the $777,769 jackpot seven ways. After required state and federal tax withholdings, they took home the following:

Karl Knudsen of Raleigh: $22,011
John Knudsen of Raleigh: $88,044
Karen Debnam of Raleigh: $88,044
Kristin Koegel of Clayton: $88,044
Katherine Knudsen of Cary: $88,044
Kristoffer Knudsen of Raleigh: $88,044
Kathy Knudsen of Raleigh: $88,044

Cash 5 is a statewide draw game that gives players the chance to win a jackpot every single night. Tickets cost $1 and players can buy tickets at most lottery retailers and through Online Play on the lottery’s website. The jackpot for Friday’s Cash 5 drawing is $436,000.

Today there was a winner in the Cash 5 lottery. 31,152 people won at least $1.00. Do you publish figures on exactly how many numbers are bought on a given day for this lottery ? I'm sure there is more people losing then winning. Thank you from Alexander County.NC Lottery

Why did you put that wrong message up there about pick 4? When I went to the website to check my numbers and read this message: Congratulations to Pick 4 Winners! You have 180 days to claim your winnings. Please note you may experience long wait-times at claim centers for a few days following a high payout event, including Saturday’s mid-day draw of four 1’s. I was happy until I saw that it wasn't the 1's it was the 0's. I played the 1's, how misleading.NC Lottery

I purchased 5 of the MGM $25,000,000 Casino Cash tickets number 8-12. I did not anything, the ticket states the odds are 1 in 3.45, with that been said with 5 tickets purchased in numerical order why wasn’t 1 a winner. NC Lottery
Hi Tony, winning and non-winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire printing run of the game, not just within packs. Odds of 1 in 4 do not guarantee a win if you buy 4 tickets in a row. It simply means that 25% of all of the ticket printed contain at least a break-even prize. We wish you good luck.
