Tripp Jackson of Raleigh plays the lottery the way he fishes: always going after the biggest catch.
“You know, when I’m fishing, I want to catch the biggest fish,” said Jackson. “When I play the lottery, I want to win big. The thrill of that possibility is fun for me. It’s also nice knowing that the money goes to a good cause.”
Jackson, the founder of a restoration company, caught a big prize Wednesday when he won $100,000 playing $300,000,000 Supreme Riches.
“I’m happy,” said Jackson. “I’ve won before playing Carolina Keno, which is my favorite, but nothing this big. I’m really grateful. This is a nice win.”
Jackson bought the lucky $30 ticket as part of his daily routine, stopping in at the Grocery Boy Jr., also known as Bliss, on Jones Franklin Road in Raleigh.
“They’re nice folks, they see me pretty often,” said Jackson. “For whatever reason, I seem to win a lot there. I’d say they’re my lucky store.”
When he bought this ticket, Jackson said he “had a good feeling.”
“I don’t know why, I just did,” he said. “So after scanning it I thought I better scratch it right away. I saw the $100,000 and couldn’t believe it. I showed it to Harry at the counter and his eyes just went wide!”
After texting his wife the good news, Jackson claimed his prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He took home $70,759 after required state and federal withholdings. Jackson plans to pay off bills and put the money into savings.
