June was a big month for our players! Matchers and scratchers across the state claimed 19 prizes of $100,000 or more throughout the month, including four $1 million wins, two $4 million wins and a $344.6 million Powerball jackpot win.

While all of our wins are thrilling, here are our top three most exciting wins of June. Did you have a favorite?

#1: North Carolina’s largest jackpot winner

At the beginning of the month we got to meet the winner of North Carolina’s largest jackpot. Charles W. Jackson Jr. of Parkton picked his numbers from his granddaughter’s fortune cookie and became the lucky winner of a $344.6 million Powerball jackpot. Charles says he doesn’t have any big plans after his win. “It probably won’t change much. I mean, let me put it this way, I will still wear jeans. But I will probably buy some new ones!”

#2: Carolina Pick 4 players win $7.8 million with 0-0-0-0

The popular number combination 0-0-0-0 was drawn in the Pick 4 afternoon drawing on Saturday, June 22. Over 2,000 lucky people had winning tickets awarding more than $7.8 million in prizes. This is a new record for prizes won in a single Pick 4 drawing! Did you hit the quad?

#3: Family of seven gets lucky with Cash 5 jackpot win

You know what they say: the family that plays together stays together! The Knudsen family of Raleigh has firsthand experience of that after their Cash 5 ticket matched all five numbers for the June 11 drawing. The family of seven visited lottery headquarters together to claim the $777,769 jackpot.

Hey John, Here's a quick google search for winners in your area: http://bit.ly/2S6e63G. If you ever want to search for past winner stories in a specific area, all you have to do is google site:nclottery.com "keyword". Just insert the town or county where it says "keyword". Hope this helps!

Why is it none ever hits the lottery in Elizabeth City North Carolina? I spend so much money & I can never win big...NC Lottery

Congratulations to all the second chance Winners! As for me, I am so done with it. I have entered thousands of dollars worth of tickets and never won. People, you are competing against store clerks who have access and enter, up to, thousands of dollars of second chance drawing tickets a "day" that get thrown in the trash in the store.

10 million on prize pay out for pick 4. that would be 2 million on the same number being played. that is hard to believe that all quads are now being played would be 20 million just in quads? thanks for the info. NC Lottery
Hi William, To clarify, $10 million would be the maximum prize payout. With a $5,000 top prize, that would mean 2,000 people played the same number. Quads are popular number combinations often with folks playing several of them at a time, so it's no surprise that they often see that amount. Hope this answers your question.

Hey Richard, Sorry to hear you aren’t having more luck. We wish every ticket could be a winner, but prize money comes from non-winning tickets. That’s how a $10 ticket could win $1 million. We wanted to let you know that the stated odds are for the entire game, not just within several tickets in a row. For example, odds of 1 in 4 do not mean that every fourth ticket will be a winner, it simply means that 25% of all tickets for that entire game have a prize on them. Good luck to you.

These games are lies the odds of at least hitting a break even scratch off on the MGM resorts 10$ can I like 1 in 3.47 so explain how I just bought 90$ worth and didn't hit nothing at all if the odds where correct I should have at least hit 2 10$ cards but nope there scam artists and theives that tell us lies and make up these odds to take our money i had stopped playing and just had extra money so I thought I five them a chance to show me I was wrong about them just ripping ppl off but u can't deny that 9 straight tickets without any payoof is a ripoff this is why n.c.is always broke there putti g the mo ey i. sure a lot of people would like to know, on Pick 4 what is the max you allow for players to play the same numbers like quads. sometimes when i play the clerk would tell me won't go through because it reached its limit.NC Lottery
That's a great question, William. The liability limit for Pick 4 is $10 million - not in sales, but in potential prize payout should a given number be drawn. The reason for this is to ensure that the lottery could pay out the prize money should those numbers hit! Hope this helps.
