Iredell County man wins $200,000 lottery prize

Wendell Lackey of Statesville is celebrating his good fortune after he won $200,000 playing the Lucky 7 Bonus scratch-off game. 

Lackey bought the winning ticket at the USA Mart on Salisbury Road in Statesville.

He claimed his prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $141,501.  
 
The $5 ticket launched in April. Five $200,000 prizes remain.

Ticket sales from games like Lucky 7 Bonus make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

If you’re looking to throw away money just play any one of the NC lottery scratch offs! Especially Supreme Riches! The only people getting rich is the NC lottery executives! Not the schools nor the people playing. Tenth ticket in a row without a break even prize! The only thing you’ll get from the NC lottery is a gambling addiction!!!!!NC Lottery
Hi Zachary, The stated odds apply to the whole game, not 10 tickets in a row. When you play the lottery, it takes luck to beat the odds. The prize money to pay all the prizes in the game come from the non-winning tickets. There's only a chance to win — never a guarantee. The lottery hopes people play for fun. When it isn't fun, that's a sign it's time to take a break.
