Students are back in school across North Carolina and so are the many teachers, principals, and school workers who help make their dreams come true.

Our School Heroes program celebrates the heroic work of those making a difference in our schools. As part of that celebration, the Education Lottery produced a new video sharing the stories of the 10 School Heroes chosen from thousands of nominations that you made.

Our School Heroes included teachers, a principal, a teacher assistant, a school custodian, a school cafeteria manager, a band director, a high school basketball coach, a school crossing guard, and a school social worker. They work in schools across our state from Brunswick County and Pasquotank counties on the coast; Wake, Granville, Union, Davidson, Iredell, and Guilford counties in the Piedmont; and McDowell and Swain counties in the mountains.

The video introduces you to each of the School Heroes and their stories. We’re proud to put a spotlight on the work of a lot of good people in our schools.

We invite you to watch our video now.

The School Heroes and their nominations remain featured on the web site, ncschoolheroes.com. If you ever wanted to know how the money raised by the lottery helps your county, we have that information on the website here.

Keep an eye out for School Heroes as you return to school. As our School Heroes program showed us, North Carolina has plenty.
