$2 Fast Play ticket wins fifth of $418,100 jackpot

Our new Fast Play game just produced its 10th jackpot win!

The win occurred Monday morning when someone who played at a Winston-Salem convenience store won a fifth of a $418,100 jackpot.

The $2 Jackpot 7s ticket was sold at the Tickled Pink C-Store on Kernersville Road and won $83,620. In Fast Play, a $2 ticket wins 20 percent of the jackpot.

The win dropped the jackpot amount by 20 percent and it began climbing again at $334,480.

The winner has 180 days to claim the prize at any lottery office.

Since Fast Play started last month, North Carolinians have won 10 jackpots. The rolling, progressive jackpot increases with every ticket sold until it is won. The odds of winning a Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 240,000.

Do you have to ask for the free ticket when you purchase $10 or more of game tickets? I know I have and never received any free ticket... Hi James, No, you don't have to ask for the ticket. Anytime you make a qualifying purchase, the free Fast Play ticket will be automatically printed for you.

Hi maybe I'm missing something. If the numbers have a 1 in 1000 chance of coming out why would 917 come out 4 times in one month. Maybe there is a problem with the balls in the machine. Nothing is perfect but something seems to be wrong. Anyway thanks for answering my questions. I guess somethings even you don't have the answer too. NC Lottery
Hi Shirley, We have strict security procedures in place to ensure that every set of numbers has the exact same chance of being drawn in every drawing. This includes using a randomly selected ball machine and randomly selected ball set during each drawing. Our drawings are independent events, meaning the results of previous drawings have no bearing on the results of future drawings. The chance of one number coming up will always be the same no matter if it was drawn yesterday, last week, or even five years ago. In games where you can choose numbers from 0-9, it’s no surprise that we see similar patterns come up every so often.

I received a barcode for a free 2.00 fast play ticket. Can you tell me what retailers are participating in this program. I have went to several Circle K's stores and they can not get the barcode to scan. My ticket expires on 10/31 Thank You NC Lottery
Hi Cynthia, The free Fast Play coupon is valid at all retail locations. All the clerk needs to do is scan the barcode and the ticket should automatically print out. You also have the option of visiting any lottery vending machine and scanning the barcode there to print out your ticket as well. Hope this helps!

Why hasn't there been a trip in NC since May? I see there has been technical difficulties during the drawing. Could that be a possibility? NC Lottery
Hi Shirley, Having technical difficulties during a drawing has nothing to do with which numbers come up. Most often it is due to a malfunction with the camera equipment or a broadcast issue. We take the integrity of our draw games seriously. An independent auditor is there to observe and ensure that every procedure is followed according to our strict protocols and can halt a drawing if those protocols are not met. The odds of a particular triple coming out are the same as any other number -- exactly 1 in 1,000. Those odds never change, no matter how recently or long ago a triple came out. We love it when popular numbers come up at random, because that means our players win a bunch of prizes! But for draw games to be fair, every number has to have the same chance of being drawn.

Hi Denver, The rocket symbol on the Jackpot 7's ticket is just a miscellaneous symbol to round out the patterns and presentations on the ticket. It has no winning value in the prize legend. Hope this helps!

SWEET. I wonder if it was a $2 purchased ticket or a freebie. I got a freebie at 11:23 that was a $3 winner & one at 11:31 that was a $5 winner. By the time I got home less then 5 minutes later that jackpot was won. Can you tell us the exact time or if it was a freebie???NC Lottery
Hey Denver! The ticket was purchased at 11:41 this morning. The blog team doesn't have the info on-hand on whether it was a ticket purchased using a coupon though.
