Check those tickets, $1 million Mega Millions prize won

If you bought a Mega Millions ticket at a convenience store in Cabarrus County for Friday night’s drawing, you might want to check those tickets!

Why?

Because the drawing produced a $1 million prize for someone who bought a ticket at the Carolina Fast Mart on U.S. 601 in Concord.

The $2 ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls, 4-10-27-35-58. The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim their prize.

No one won the Mega Millions jackpot in the drawing. Tuesday’s jackpot climbs to $229 million as an annuity prize, or $177.5 million cash.

@Tim, that figure was correct! The current entries are up to 58 million now. The reason for the unusually high number is the entry multiplier for this game. The Holiday Luck Second-Chance digital game can multiply your entries between 2X and 50X. So if you entered a Holiday Countdown ticket worth 20 entries and got lucky and hit a 50X multiplier you'd get 1,000 entries. The digital game also gives you bonus Lucke-Rewards points, which is what that 50 points you saw was for.

Hey LZ! On that Holiday 2nd Chance, is that figure a misprint? It had over 45 million entries?! You sure it wasn't over 4 million? I've never seen you have a figure that high on anything, not even those long-running $30 tickets. Plus, it hasn't been but a month since those games came out. I know you can get extra points on them but 45 million doesn't even sound realistic for a local NC drawing. I also have another question. Say I enter a holiday ticket and then it gives me a 50x multiplier for 600 points. Then there's that ornament to tap and it might say 50 points. The problem is, if I exit out of the scanner to figure up the 650 points, they're not there! There's only a portion of them, more like a regular ticket. And yes, I have updated the app.

Hi Martha, both the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots have been won multiple times since March of this year. Mega Millions was most recently won on September 15, and Powerball was most recently won on September 16.
