Rutherford County man wins third of $1,007,160 jackpot

Worth McCraw of Rutherfordton stepped forward Friday as the third North Carolinian to win a third of a $1,007,160 Cash 5 jackpot.

McCraw’s lucky Quick Pick ticket beat odds of 1 in 962,598 to win part of the jackpot in the Nov. 4 drawing.

He bought his lucky ticket at Walmart on Plaza Drive in Forest City.

He claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He received one third of the jackpot, $335,720. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $237,522.

Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Monday’s jackpot is $228,000.

SCHMEKA, that kind of stuff happens all the time to all kinds of people, including myself more often then I like. I lost out on $250 last night because I didn't replay my C5 from the night b4. I had a $6 QP I had replayed a few times this week , but did not replay it last night. One of the lines was 41,13,19,23,31. It happens , don't over think it. There is NO conspiracy from the NCEL to keep me or you or anyone else from winning.

Ok wait NC lottery I'm a bit confused know cause last night for the cash 5 November 10.. I played 15,21,32,36,16, how is that 15,21,32,17,37 came out I'm not understanding this it went one number off both my numbers something looks a bit tricky to me.

@Denver I always knew there was back way to checking ticket just wasn’t sure the clerk knows how. It was damaged completely barcode and numbers won’t scratch just silver lining. Thanks for the tip Denver ! Much love !

@MICHAEL B. When you say damaged, do you mean the bar code on the front of the scratcher smeared when you rubbed it off. If its a winner when you go to cash it in the person behind the counter should be able to manually input the 12 digit # located on the front of the ticket near the bar code. Same as you would when you enter tickets for points on your desk top instead of scanning them.

I have two damaged scratch offs that when you scratch them they turn silver. How do I go about redeeming these or exchanging them ? NC Lottery

I am so happy to start seeing that NC lottery is finally given more people a chance to win on the cash 5 I'm starting to see multiple ticket winners instead of it just being one winner all the time when the jackpot get so high. Cause I was really starting to think that it was rigged since it was always one winner. Happy to see more winners make me want to play the cash 5 more often know
