Mega Millions ticket sold in Cabarrus County wins $1 million prize

Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing produced a $1 million prize for someone who bought a ticket at a convenience store in Cabarrus County.

The lucky winner bought the ticket at the Carolina Fast Mart on N.C. 49 North in Concord. The win became the third time in three weeks, and the second Tuesday in a row, that a ticket in North Carolina won a $1 million prize in the game.

The $2 ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls, 1-10-18-20-46, to beat odds of 1 in 12.6 million.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim their prize.

No one won the Mega Millions jackpot in the drawing. Friday’s jackpot climbs to $310 million as an annuity prize, or $238 million cash. The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.

Players can try their luck and buy $2 Mega Millions tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Hi Shirley, the odds of picking an exact match in Pick 4 are 1 in 10,000 while the odds of picking an exact match in Pick 3 are 1 in 1000 so a repeat is more likely in Pick 3.

LZ, the answer you gave Tony T doesn't add for me, I disagree with your reasoning. You did not increase the chance for more players to win you just increased the top prize for one player to win. Top prize went from $50k to $150k. Would have been better for 3 players to win $50k. Either way those tickets 20 & 5 should have been picked up long ago. $20 tickets are too much for stocking stuffers. Most people opt for 4 or 5 of the $5 tics. How disappointed they will be when they realize NOBODY even had a chance to win top prize.

Hi Tyrone, the chances of winning on a ticket purchased in a store or through Online Play are the same, but the number of people who play online is relatively small (less than 1% last year) when compared to the folks who prefer to buy their tickets in-store.

NCEL , I thought you said you were going to be in the process of pulling the $ 5.00 and $ 20.00 holiday tickets but they're still out there. Saw a video on a local tv site..lady was saying she didn't know she could check here about remaining prizes but she would from now on since she'd been wasting $ buying tickets with no big prizes left. Sometimes you pull tickets with the top prizes left but leave those without any. To make the second chance prize bigger with those holiday games doesn't help folks that don't play the games here.NC Lottery

players are looking for trips and so many people are playing them. The machines are blocking them because too many people are playing them. It doesn't matter which one drops now because one hasn't been out in so long.

Hi Angelena, if you enter a ticket with a second-chance promotion, you will receive your points and entries automatically when you scan the ticket to collect points. Only certain tickets are eligible for Second Chance drawings, but all lottery tickets including draw games and Fast Play can be entered for Lucke-Rewards points that can be used in monthly drawings.
