Washington County woman wins $250,000 lottery prize

Kimberly Kaighn of Plymouth tried her luck with a $5 scratch-off and took home a $250,000 prize.

Kaighn purchased her lucky 20X The Cash ticket from the Speedway on U.S. 64 East in Plymouth.

She claimed her prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and, after federal and state tax withholdings, received $176,876.

Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.

However the lottery cannot predict what the winning numbers will be for any particular live drawing. Our drawings are independent events, meaning the results of previous drawings have no bearing on the results of future drawings.

I was checking prizes left on the X the cash games. Noticed there is a new $20 ticket 100x the cash (#765) launching 12-5. I already checked, yes it is part of the current 2nd chance drawing. I also saw tickets 766-770 were also. So a new suite of X games are coming out? Also new ticket is different color scheme, just like when you went from green to black on the 2 previous ones.
