Surry County woman wins $227,513 Cash 5 jackpot

The winner of Saturday’s $227,513 Cash 5 jackpot is Donna Salerno of Elkin.

Salerno bought her Quick Pick ticket at Sheetz on CC Camp Road in Elkin and beat odds of 1 in 962,598 to win the jackpot. After federal and state tax withholding, she took home $160,711

Cash 5 is a statewide draw game that gives players the chance to win a jackpot every single night. Tickets cost $1 and players can buy tickets at most lottery retailers or through Online Play on the lottery’s website. The jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is $120,000.

Hey I recently got a email that I had won the February 3rd cash five jackpot online drawing, but was told it was claimed by someone else and three other people called about the same thing , how could something like this happen was it a inside win or how could this have been a scam email like I was told need answers pleaseNC Lottery

Great question, Douglas! Wins of more than $5,000 are subject to minimum tax rates of 24% for federal and 5.25% for state. Depending on each winner's unique financial situation, a person's tax obligation could be more or less than what was withheld.

Hi Kiana, To find the winners, just visit the 2nd Chance Draws page and click on the drawing you're interested in seeing the winners for. Then, click on the draw date that you want to see and click "Winner". We post winners there as they respond to our notification and complete the claim process.

NCEL how about fixing the dashboard for second chance drawing entries. Mine is showing 6,796 entries which is all of the entries I made back to Jan 9, 2019. I have 61 total entries in 2 active drawings. It's the same thing as the old system where the expired entries are not being removed. Lucke-Rewards is working correctly.NC Lottery
