$5,000,000 Fortune game delivers $100,000 prize

Emanuael Mills of Henderson took a chance on a scratch-off ticket in the $5,000,000 Fortune game and won a $100,000 prize.

Mills bought his lucky ticket on Thursday at the Raleigh Road Convenient Mart on Raleigh Road in Henderson. He scratched the ticket later at home and discovered his big win.

“I looked at it and said there is no way it is a $100,000 so I put it away,” Mills said. Later, he showed the ticket to a friend and she convinced him he had a big win.

After required federal and state tax withholdings, Mills took home $70,756. He said he planned to use the prize money to catch up on bills.

“I play just for the fun of it,” Mills said Friday as he claimed his prize. “I like to scratch the whole ticket and see if I am a winner.”

The $20 game began in August with three top prizes of $5 million and six prizes of $100,000. Two $5 million prizes and four $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Is it just me, but it seems like the majority of the big winning scratch offs are mainly in the Raleigh and surrounding areas??NC Lottery
Henderson is about an hour away from Raleigh. If you read the blog or our social media pages long enough, you'll see that we have winners in all different places across the state. We get similar comments from players in every region--some notice that there are many winners in the east. Some say the same thing about the west. Many think that only big cities have big winners. And some mention that a lot of big winners are from small towns. The truth is that it takes a lot of luck to win no matter where you live or play - big city or small town, east or west!

Nice win!! I do agree with Richard H.'s comment below. The option currently is to either put in 1-10 entries or use all of your points you have for entries. I have to keep doing 10 entries at a time to reach the amount I want to put in, without using all of my points. The old way was better to be able to enter the exact # of entries you want to put in.
