Think back to your school days. Picture in your mind the teacher, coach, or school staff person who made a difference for you in your life. Someone whose kindness you’ve never forgotten or whose advice still rings true to you today.
That’s a School Hero.
And we’re here to recognize them. Every school has them. They are the people who bring enthusiasm, passion and creativity to what they do every day. They are the bus drivers, cafeteria workers, office assistants, teachers, custodians, coaches, principals, superintendents — all the individuals who make our schools run and help our students achieve their dreams.
Our NC School Heroes program is underway for a second year to shine a spotlight on them.
We will be awarding $10,000 to 10 School Heroes and $10,000 to their schools.
We have created a way for you to share your hero stories with your community, so we can all, collectively, show our thanks to them for their dedication and hard work. Visit ncschoolheroes.com to submit your nomination. You could take home $1,000 should your hero get selected as a winner.
We recognize the important work school employees do along with that of teachers, principals and others. A large part of the money we raised this year, $385 million, provides support for many of the school staff who work at our public schools.
