Barry Evans of Durham took a chance on a $300,000,000 Supreme Riches scratch-off ticket and won $1 million.
Evans bought the lucky ticket at the Bull Market on Avondale Drive in Durham.
He had a choice of an annuity prize paid out as $50,000 a year over 20 years, totaling $1 million, or he could choose a lump sum of $600,000. Evans chose the lump sum when claiming his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday. After required tax withholdings, he took home $424,509.
The $30 ticket launched in April 2019 and offers players even more ways to win. Two $10 million prizes and two $1 million prizes remain to be won instantly. Players can also enter their $300,000,000 Supreme Riches tickets into two remaining second-chance drawings for an extra chance at winning $1 million.
