Durham man wins ‘Supreme’ $1 million lottery prize

Barry Evans of Durham took a chance on a $300,000,000 Supreme Riches scratch-off ticket and won $1 million.

Evans bought the lucky ticket at the Bull Market on Avondale Drive in Durham.

He had a choice of an annuity prize paid out as $50,000 a year over 20 years, totaling $1 million, or he could choose a lump sum of $600,000. Evans chose the lump sum when claiming his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday. After required tax withholdings, he took home $424,509.

The $30 ticket launched in April 2019 and offers players even more ways to win. Two $10 million prizes and two $1 million prizes remain to be won instantly. Players can also enter their $300,000,000 Supreme Riches tickets into two remaining second-chance drawings for an extra chance at winning $1 million.

Hi Johnny, we wanted to let you know it is no easier to win the lottery in once place over another. The triangle area is simply highly populated and has more people playing the lottery. If you live in these areas it is not easier to win. No matter where you live you have the same chance to beat the odds as anyone else.
