Some with multidraw Powerball tickets to get refunds from lottery

As changes in the Powerball game go into effect, the N.C. Education Lottery plans to make refunds for some multidraw Powerball tickets impacted by the change.

The changes, announced on Wednesday, March 25, included no longer guaranteeing a $40 million starting jackpot and a $10 million increase in a jackpot when it is not won.

The changes, allowed under the Powerball game rules, will go into effect immediately after the Powerball jackpot is won and reset. That means that some North Carolina Powerball players with multidraw tickets purchased on or before Wednesday, March 25, did not have time to consider those changes before they made their purchases.

Because the changes were immediate, the N.C. Education Lottery will refund to those players with multidraw tickets the value of the remaining draws they purchased. In addition to the refund, those Powerball players will keep their ticket as a free ticket and it remains valid for the drawings that it was purchased for. Any prizes won in those drawings, however, will be awarded under the new prize structure announced on Wednesday, March 25.

Players with those multidraw tickets should keep those tickets because they are still eligible to win one of the nine prizes offered in the Powerball game, including the jackpot, in any of the upcoming drawings in which plays were purchased. They should also call the lottery’s Customer Service helpline at (877) 962-4530 or check the lottery’s website, nclottery.com, for information on how to obtain a refund.

Hi Taylor, we're sorry to hear this. The promotion will only work if it is your very first deposit, and it must be a single deposit of $10 or more. Do you check both of those boxes and you're still not seeing a $10 bonus in your account? How long ago did you make the deposit?

Hate to be a complainer but why (since the new changes to the NC website) can the programmers not get the numbers to be in consecutive order if you use the quick pick funtion. This drives me slightly crazy since the results are given in consecutive numbers. Under the old website the quick pick numbers were in consecutive order.

This is an incredible amount to cut prize money at one time before NC got lottery drove 6hrs to buy tickets. If ticket price is 2.00 I have bought my last Powerball ticket.GREEDY!

Powerball stinks. All these games are Mafia style percentages.Reminds me of Chevy Chase in Vacation in Vegas when he losses all his money and is playing guess the number. I used to win here and there before they added way to many numbers. Lucky for Life is a way better buy and odds. I still win often on that draw game.

Hi Sharon, You can view your numbers for tickets you purchased online by visiting your dashboard and then clicking "Transaction History". On that page you should be able to view the numbers you played for any past draws and upcoming draws. Does that answer your question?

when you clicked on 2nd chance drawings, used to be able to scroll down and see all the drawings. Now you have to start over and do each one separately. NOT GOOD Also the new drawing on the new scratchcard does not really explain exactly what do you win. Is it a trip to Vegas? one winner of a Million? Please explain. thanks for your time NC Lottery

Can you lower the amount(75) of tickets you can submit for points.Retailers are the only ones I know that submit 75 tickets a day.I would like it to be around 10 so everyone has a chance.I see multiple winners within a month and I have played for years like other people and we get nothing.Now would be a great time to make the change.NC Lottery

Powerball was already a * way to waste your money, with the only winners the corrupt treasuries of the states involved. Now they are testing to just how stupid players are by reducing any potential prize and/or slowing the growth. At over 300 million to one odds you have to quite the optimist to piss even two bucks away on powerbull. NC Lottery

Hi, I have an account online and love to play POWERBALL, MEGAMILLION, and CASH 5, but I cant because my geo-locator indicates I am not in North Carolina where I reside. I travel and stuck in the state of Georgia and would love to continue playing, but the system will not allow me to because of my location. Given the fact we have shelter in place in effect why can't I be allowed to participate? The online games have my personal information stored in your database if I happened to win, who cares where I am located. NC Lottery

Totally agree with Tiffany B. I also had the ssame question about online play for Pick 3 and Pick 4 under today's challenges but thought state of NC political cliques would be too inflexible (disquised as "conservative") to consider it. Perhaps thewill consider it with restrictions given the high volumes for Pick 3 and Pick 4.

Hi not sure who I need to address but it is very unfortunate that we can not play pick 3 and pick 4 online. Now that there's a order in effect to stay indoors it seems like the NCEL would make that change to the website. I notice other states have the option as long as you're a resident. check out the Chicago Illinois lottery website. Just saying NC Lottery

I wanted to know could you NCEL would consider having the double play for pick 3 every day and night for the entire year, not just for the month of February. Also, I don't see why pick 4 never had double plays. Can you please explain to me why or why not. NC Lottery
