Forsyth County man turns $5 scratch-off ticket into $200,000 lottery win

Samuel Cureton Jr. of Winston-Salem took a chance on the JAMES BOND 007™ scratch-off game and won a $200,000 top prize.  

Cureton bought the lucky ticket at the Speedway on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Friday. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $141,501.

JAMES BOND 007™ launched in April with four top prizes of $200,000. Two top prizes remain to be won.

The $5 ticket offers even more ways to win.

Players can enter their JAMES BOND 007™ tickets into second-chance drawings to win a VIP trip for two to Las Vegas. Six trips can be won in three drawings, which include roundtrip airfare to Las Vegas, four nights of deluxe accommodations and tickets to the JAMES BOND Lottery Challenge, where up to $1 million can be won. The entry deadline for the first drawing is May 31.

As a suggestion and only my opinion, can you remove all that school hero nonsense stories and expand the Winners Stories to six? I would say that few are interested in old news that no one comments on and they take away from the exciting news of players winning. Some of these Winner Stories are only lasting 1-2 days before they are replaced with new winners. P.S. I'm not interested in searching the archives. Just a suggestion.NC Lottery
Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. If you click the "News Blog Archive" button, it just takes you to a list view of the most recent blog posts so you'd be able to see all of the recent winner stories on one page.

What if a winner did not want to travel to Las Vegas? Is there an alternate prize?NC Lottery
Hi John, If a winner isn't able to travel to Las Vegas, they have the option to designate a proxy that will travel to Las Vegas on their behalf and participate in the events.
