Someone who played the Carolina Cash 5 game during the Memorial Day weekend became a millionaire in Friday’s drawing.

The lucky winner bought the ticket at Lee’s Quick Stop on North Main Street in Mount Holly in Gaston County and won $1,127,585. The ticket beat odds of 1 in 962,598 to match all five numbers in the drawing. The winning numbers in the drawing were: 14-15-28-31-40.

Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Monday’s jackpot is $120,000.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The other games are Powerball, Mega Millions, and Lucky for Life.

@nc lottery. In response AGAIN....to your response below. I sent my documents way before the deadline. Now I get another saying I did make the deadline.... which is not true. Ncel is now putting the $6 back in my account. You guys are doing this on o to keep us spending and not receiving funds. Where are my documents!!!!! I want my money or I'm contacting the media. This is FRAUD.NC Lottery
Hi Sheila, we apologize for the inconvenience in updating your account info. Our accounting folks reviewed the documents you sent but one of them was not legible due to glare on the photo. Please look for an email or voicemail from our team requesting you to resubmit. We've asked our team to follow up again to assist you as well.

@nc lottery per your response to my previous concern about getting my winnings, I went ahead and submitted copies of the documents in question. As of today, I have not received I $6. Now I'm worried that my banking and driver's license info may end up in the wrong hands. Smh.....NC Lottery
Thanks for following up, Sheila. Rest assured that we have strict procedures in place to ensure the security of your information. Please allow our team some time to review those documents, though. If you'd like to get a status update, you can always reach out to our online support team at nclottery.com/Help and someone can see what might be holding up the process.

@coriante s. If win big enough that you don’t want to be known you can form and LLC corporation and sign the ticket under the name of the LLC then your name won’t be on it . But if you sign your personal name on it with the LLC then you will be in the paper. So best to wait before you sign your ticket even know the lottery tells you to sign it as so as you purchase it. Happy playing!!NC Lottery
Hey John, Thanks for commenting. Lottery winners do not have the option to claim anonymously in North Carolina. You cannot anonymously claim as an LLC or trust in North Carolina, either. Even if a trust is set up, we are obligated by law to name the person for whom the trust is set up. For our players and the public, it is important for them to know that there are real players who are winning prizes.

No my question was not answered so I will simplify it. If I win a jack pot or large amount threw online play can I give my winning ticket to somebody to be cashed in is that possible or it has to be cashed in by me NC Lottery
Hi Coriante, If you won a jackpot prize through Online Play, you would need to claim it since it would be attached to your NC Lottery account.

@nclottery....my response to your response. If Why ask us to enter our driver's license and banking information only to send an email a day later requesting copies of the information that was already given.... that's ridiculous. All I know is, I want my $6. Thank God it wasn't $600k. You guys are crroks!NC Lottery
We understand your frustration, Sheila, and we hear you. If you have further questions about the process, please reach out to our help team at nclottery.com/help and they can walk you through the process.

don't feel bad I won 20.00 on Lucky for life last October and got only 3.00. I know what numbers I played I always play the same. I e-mailed my problem first NO RESPONSE. Then I called and because the web site had been redone The person needed someone up higher in the ranks to access the old site. No call back no response later. I do wonder how many other players may have had the same problem.NC Lottery
Hey William, We're sorry to hear about your negative experience. Our support team is here to help and we encourage you to reach out to them at nclottery.com/Help regarding this matter.

When will the 2nd chance multiply results be published--drawing was suppose to taken place 05/20/2020. Thank youNC Lottery
Hey Bill, We know folks are eager to find out who won these drawings. That drawing was held on May 20 and all of the winners have been contacted via email. We announce a winner’s name only after they have responded to a notification and completed the claim process. We understand why folks are eager to find out who won but, until a prize is claimed, we don’t officially have a winner and can't post their names.

In regards to playing online let’s say hit a cash 5 or powerball etc.... can I get someone to cash in my winning ticket does have to be me. My reason for saying this is based off North Carolina rules of you have print a person name I know I can decline to talk to the media and can deny my picture taken but I want to remain anonymous like they do in some other states NC Lottery
Hi Coriante, According to North Carolina law, we must release a winner's name, hometown, game played and amount won. You can claim a lottery prize as a trust, but it cannot be a “blind trust” which would allow you to claim a prize anonymously. By law we’re still required to disclose the trust, its trustor or grantor, and its beneficiaries of that trust. We hope this helps answer your questions.

@nclottery I am so upset and angry right now. I won $6 a few days ago playing online. I entered all the necessary information as required. Now I get an email asking for a copy of my driver's license, banking information and a voided check.... really for $6 lousy dollars. I think you guys do this on purpose to discourage us to not request our winnings...so we can continue to play. If I don't get my money, I'm going to the media. This is fraud. I promise I will NOT play online ever again. NC Lottery
Hi Sheila, we apologize for the inconvenience of having to take these extra steps to verify your account. While we want to make it as easy as possible for folks to access their winnings, our goal is also to protect you as well as comply with federal law. For withdrawals, we have to verify the identity of the person receiving the funds and that requires us to obtain the required documentation. That requirement helps guard against identity theft and misdirection of funds and is only required for the first withdrawal.
