Here’s one thing we’ve learned during this Stay At Home order: our North Carolina teachers are not missing a beat. They have stepped up and taken on the challenge of engaging with our kids through virtual means. The heart and soul they put in to their work every day is still showing in the form of Earth Day hangouts, Spanish lessons, and continuing to inspire students to be the best that they can be.
We’d like to take this opportunity to shine a light on some outstanding teachers in observance of National Teacher Appreciation Day.
These stories, supported by the N. C. Education Lottery, appear throughout the school year on WITN’s Teacher of the Week in Eastern North Carolina, WRAL’s Teacher of the Week in the Triangle, WGHP’s Educator of the Week in the Triad, and WLOS’s Thanks to Teachers in the mountains. They are produced as part of a partnership between the lottery and four of the stations that show lottery drawings including Powerball and Mega Millions and the nightly drawings of Carolina Cash 5, Carolina Pick 4, and Carolina Pick 3.
As Brad Henry, a governor of Oklahoma said, teachers can inspire hope. We invite you to take some time this week to see the stories of truly inspiring individuals. For extra credit, do something nice for a teacher you know.
