Cumberland County man cashes in on $200,000 scratch-off prize

Derrick Goines of Hope Mills is the lucky winner of a $200,000 Bonus Bucks top prize.

Goines purchased his $5 ticket from Needs on West Cumberland Street in Dunn.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Thursday. After federal and state taxes, he took home $141,501.

Bonus Bucks launched this month with six top prizes of $200,000. Four remain to be won.

Congrats. I live near Dunn and I actually go in this store very often, nearly 7 days a week. I was in there this past Saturday and found out someone had won 200K on this very game but didn't know who. I've bought this game there several times but I usually just win between $2 to $20 on any game there depending on the game.

Congrats. LZ, I am a little confused about the way second chance drawings. Are the winning numbers produced by a random number generator tthat is programmed with only the numbers fromthe totol entry numbers. Also, in the near future , could NC Lottery consider live drawings of second chance similar to the Big Spin.NC Lottery
We're happy to clarify how the process works. Each entry in a drawing is assigned a number from 1 to the total number of entries received. The random number generator then simply picks random numbers from 1 to the total entries received. Our promotional and second-chance drawings are conducted in a secure room that houses the random number generator. Right now we don't have any plans to make our second-chance drawings live, but they are open to the public to attend if interested. We hope this answers your questions!
