Saturday’s Powerball jackpot created the largest number of millionaires in a single U.S. lottery drawing in the last five years.
On top of the $23.2 million jackpot hit in New Jersey, the January 23 drawing produced 43 winning tickets worth $1 million to $2 million.
The winning Match 5 tickets were spread across 18 lottery jurisdictions, including North Carolina!
Saturday’s drawing produced a total of:
- 35 $1 Million winners
- 8 $2 Million Power Play winners
Here in NC, the lucky $1 million winner bought their ticket at the Family Fare on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem.
The last two Powerball drawings produced back-to-back jackpot wins — a trend you don’t see too often! The last time jackpots were won in back-to-back drawings was nearly six years ago in March 2015.
Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot starts over at $20 million as an annuity or $15 million cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
Remember, you can buy Powerball tickets through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App, or at any lottery retail location.
Good luck!
