Saturday’s Powerball drawing produces a night of millionaires

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot created the largest number of millionaires in a single U.S. lottery drawing in the last five years.

On top of the $23.2 million jackpot hit in New Jersey, the January 23 drawing produced 43 winning tickets worth $1 million to $2 million.

The winning Match 5 tickets were spread across 18 lottery jurisdictions, including North Carolina!

Saturday’s drawing produced a total of:

35 $1 Million winners
8 $2 Million Power Play winners

Here in NC, the lucky $1 million winner bought their ticket at the Family Fare on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem.

The last two Powerball drawings produced back-to-back jackpot wins — a trend you don’t see too often! The last time jackpots were won in back-to-back drawings was nearly six years ago in March 2015.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot starts over at $20 million as an annuity or $15 million cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

That's great how often do you see 35 millionaires on 1 drawing and 8 on 2 million hope that happens alot i have not noticed that on past jackpots

i was really impressed with the recent wins of the instant winners list, but the joy was short lived as i noticed for a few days now it is not being kept updated except for the $500 wins, very disappointed.. guess i'll just pick another game to play.NC Lottery

Gotta play the Megaplier and the Powerplay for an extra dollar! 2.00 or 3.00 what's the difference? An extra million that's all! The difference in getting a check for 1,415.000.00 or 707,500.00. (estimated) You do the math. What's an extra dollar? :)

Question How was the jackpot won $23 million when it had been reset to the $20 million after the big power ball jackpot was won on Wednesday in Maryland ?NC Lottery
Hi Scott, the jackpot was reset to $20 million but the jackpot listed on the website is an estimate. The final jackpot amount can increase based on ticket sales.
