There’s no other way to say this: if you need help paying for college, filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your ticket to get some.
Some of that help could come in the form of an Education Lottery Scholarship, which is one way the money raised by the lottery supports education. And in order to be eligible for one, you have to fill out the FAFSA.
In 2020, 22,267 Education Lottery Scholarships were awarded to college students all across the state. Now that you know just what to do, allow us to share with you an event that will help you fill out the FAFSA.
Our friends at College Foundation of North Carolina, myFutureNC, and North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority have teamed up to bring you a FAFSA Day Drive-In event.
At this drive-in, you will get a personal FAFSA coach to help answer any questions you may have. But here’s the best part: it’s free and you don’t even have to exit your vehicle!
FAFSA Day Drive-In events are happening all across North Carolina on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can find an event happening near you and register all right here.
Here’s why it’s so important to fill out the FAFSA:
- Filling out the FAFSA automatically makes you eligible for an Education Lottery Scholarship
- Many financial aid opportunities require students to first complete the FAFSA
- The FAFSA is used to help determine federal, state, and school-specific financial aid awards including scholarships, grants, student loans, and work-study programs
Don’t have a drive-in event near you? The financial aid office at your local community college is an excellent resource as well as your CFNC Representative.
