Craven County woman scores half of $391,870 Cash 5 jackpot

 Danielle Godette of New Bern tried her luck on a Cash 5 ticket and won half of Wednesday’s $391,870 Cash 5 jackpot.   

Godette’s ticket was one of two tickets that split the $391,870 jackpot. She bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket through Online Play. The second half of the jackpot, won by a ticket purchased at the Asheboro Shell on East U.S.64 in Asheboro, has not yet been claimed.

Godette claimed her half, $195,935, on Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $138,624.

Cash 5 tickets are $1 with drawings held every night. Monday night’s jackpot is $120,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Same issue as Venu. I was told the App would no longer work with my iPhone 6 iOS 12.5.5 so I borrowed a 12 with iOS 14 and downloaded the App on to it. The Scanner does not work at all - white line just goes slowly up and down, in a well lit area with the flashlight on. The Ticket is never read - either Draw or Scratch Off, I tried several of each. Any chance of going back to the previous version of the App with the fast and reliable Ticket Scanner until this one can be made to work? Thank you.NC Lottery

Hi Herman, thanks for your question! All winners were notified within 48 hours of the drawing on September 29. Winners will have 30 days to claim their prizes, and will be contacted via phone call and certified mail closer to the deadline if they have not claimed. After 30 days, if the winners have still not claimed, we will move onto an alternate winner and repeat the contacting process. Winner names will be added to the website as they claim their prize. Hope this helps to answer your question!
