Nash County man wins $100,000 scratch-off prize

Amos Batts of Rocky Mount tried his luck on a scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize.

Batts purchased his $20 Premier Cash ticket from the City Dollar on South Church Street in Rocky Mount. He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $70,756.

The Premier Cash ticket launched in August with four top prizes of $2 million and eight $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from scratch-offs like Premier Cash make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $900 million a year for education.

A $10 million grant, using money raised by the lottery, is helping Nash County build the new Red Oak Elementary School. For details on other ways Nash County benefits from lottery funds, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.

Hi Shirley! Every combination has the exact same odds of being drawn in each drawing - and since each drawing is an independent event, the results from past draws have no bearing on future ones. This means that certain combinations could be drawn more frequently than others, while some may not have hit at all yet - all of this is just randomness being random!
