Union County woman bags $100,000 lottery prize

Vicky Gause of Waxhaw took a chance on a $20 scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize.

Gause bought her lucky Ultimate 7’s ticket from the Circle K on East Main Street in Waxhaw. She claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $70,756.

The Ultimate 7’s game launched in May with four top prizes of $2 million and eight $100,000 prizes. One $2 million prize and one $100,000 prize remain to be claimed.

Wow! Congratulations! I take chances everytime I play, but the only thing is,with me, I don't win! I'd be so happy if I won 50,000 dollars. Hell,25,000 would be ok with me. I see all these winners, and it makes me sick,that I cannot win anything, other than a dollar or two.

Hi there, Darlene! Today's promo is a "Lunch Break" promo - meaning that it is only valid between 12 PM to 3 PM. So if you go to a retailer by 3 PM, they should be able to honor the promo. Sorry about that!
