Dare County man lucks out with $100,000 Powerball prize

The night before St. Patrick’s Day, Donald Dotzler Jr. of Kill Devil Hills tried his luck on a Powerball Quick Pick ticket and won himself a $100,000 prize.

His $3 Power Play ticket matched numbers on four of the white balls and the Powerball in the March 17 drawing.

The odds of matching four white balls and the Powerball in a drawing are 1 in 913,129.

Dotzler purchased his winning ticket through Online Play on the lottery’s website.

He claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took home $70,751 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

No one won Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot. The jackpot stands at $200 million as an annuity or $136.5 million cash for Saturday’s drawing. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy Powerball tickets through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App, or at any lottery retail location.

What if I put my numbers in and let the computer pick my numbers didn’t write them down figured it would store my numbers ? Am I missing somethingNC Lottery

The win is a very nice event for me. Initiating the prize claim online was very easy and convenient. I called ahead to make sure to bring everything that would be needed. The person on the phone was very kind and patient to explain the process and answer any questions. When I arrived in the Raleigh Claims Center I was greeted at the front lobby window by two of the most disrespectful people I have ever encountered in my 62 years on this earth. They were rude, demanding and condescending. Interacting with the public is a profession for which neither God nor man intended for these two people. The 3 staff members in the back office were timely, on point and professional. I was out of their in no time with check in hand. Kudo's to the back office team. Two thumbs down for the two up front.NC Lottery

The lottery just keep adding on a new this, a new that to trap people out of more money to NEVER win. NC lottery is just a legal rip off. People really need to wake up and see what’s right in front of them. I’m now talking about the few that has won, they will never see it because they managed to get a bone but for the majority of people that play practically everyday and never win anything over $5.00 I’d pathetic. But we have the same people winning multiple times top prize scratch off to let you know that the big winning tickets are being put in the same areas. One winning won. 4 million dollar prize and last week won another 1 million dollar prize within 7 months. What are the odds of this.

This site is so aggravating. The scanner work less that it’s worth. You would think as much as people play the lottery they should be able to check thickets and scan for points without all this aggravation of its never working. I would think there is enough money that a more undated system that actually work is doable.
