Washington County woman cashes in on first $200,000 CA$H PLU$ prize

Annabelle Raby of Plymouth tried her luck on the new CA$H PLU$ game and became the first winner of a $200,000 top prize.

“It still hasn’t hit me that I won,” she said Monday as she claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

Raby purchased her winning $5 ticket from the Speedway on U.S. 17 South in Elizabeth City.

“I almost passed out when I scratched off the ticket!” she recalled. “I was shaking and my heart was beating really fast.”

She took home $141,501 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

“I am gonna get a car,” said Raby. “I don’t have one and I know I need one.”

CA$H PLU$ launched in March with six top prizes of $200,000. Five remain to be won.

Hey LZ, why wasn't my last post printed? I tried to question you about something; crickets. The night of the first double draw, I'm convinced the second number was 587. I watched the drawing and wrote down the numbers and I'm sure I saw 587. Then I realized that I had 587 on a dollar quick pick Any, but everything online said 785. I won $80 regardless but I don't think my eyes were playing tricks. Then you didn't answer my query? NC Lottery
Hi Tim, sorry about that. We noticed that you posted the same comment in a few places and we only responded to one of them. During the Evening Draw for 03/05/2021 the talent misread the numbers in the Pick 3 Double Draw as “5-8-7” instead of “7-8-5”. If you email player.info@lotterync.net they can send you a video recording of the drawing to watch. Sorry again for the confusion caused by the misreading of the numbers.
