Pitt County man snags $436,064 Cash 5 jackpot

Craig Hernandez of Greenville saw his good luck win him a $436,064 Cash 5 jackpot.

Hernandez purchased his winning Quick Pick ticket for Tuesday’s drawing at the Community Store on N.C. 102 East in Ayden.

He claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters and took home $308,516 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Friday’s jackpot is $100,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Hi NCEL!!! Have a question for a future thought, if no one has asked before;Have you thought about adding the option to the app that will allow you to deposit funds from tickets you purchase in store that may be a winner? Say for instance you purchase a Cash 5 scan it on the app that night or next day and it says you won $5 or something, to give you the option to have that $5 deposited to your online balance. Has this been a thought, rather than having to go to the store to claim the prize, have that to at least be an option. Thanks!NC Lottery
Hi Sherian, that is a great idea! The Online Play developers read these comments and I'm sure they will appreciate the feedback. I don't know if this has been considered before, but we always like to receive suggestions for new features from our players because it helps us to improve the player experience.

Hi Joe, we're sorry you're having trouble scanning your tickets. You should not have to be connected to a wifi network to scan tickets. If you are on a mobile device, please try deleting and reinstalling the most recent version of the app. If you continue to have trouble getting it to work, the folks on our online player support system are best equipped to help find another solution.
