Gaston County woman wins $200,000 scratch-off prize

Vera Bolin of Gastonia tried her luck on a $5 Ca$h Plu$ scratch-off and won a $200,000 prize.

Bolin bought her lucky $5 ticket at Will’s on South New Hope Road in Gastonia.

She claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $141,501.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education. For details on how $13.4 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Gaston County last year, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.

Hey LZ in response to the answer you gave Kenny T. about LFL top 2 prizes. Has it always been that way and is splitting of the winnings per state or all 26 states that combined? And are the winning numbers by a RNG of some sort now. I also noticed on their website site that SC dropped out of LFL.NC Lottery
Hi Denver, the prize for matching 5+LB is pari-mutuel (shared amongst the winners). As far as I am aware, this has always been the case. The prizes are split only amongst multiple winners from the same state. If two players won from different states, they would not have to split the prize. Drawings just recently switched from a ball machine to a random number generator with the transition to drawings occurring 7 days a week.

A few players have reported problems signing in to the app. In most cases, players were able to resolve the problem by deleting and reinstalling the app. If that doesn't work for you, please call Online Play Customer Service at 866-934-0289 and they can help guide you through it. I have a question about Lucky for Life. If two people win the top prize, do they each get $1000 a day for life or do they split the prize for $500 a day for life?NC Lottery
Hi Kenny, thanks for the question. If two players both win the Lucky For Life top prize in the same drawing then they would split the prize, each receiving $3,500 per week for life.

LZ, I didn't get a free LFL ticket to redeem at a store. I checked on my app and I wasn't signed up for promotional e-mail so I checked the box. Now I can receive the LFL. Can you please make this happen before it's too late? Thanks!NC Lottery

I had a dream about a lady named Vera we were in a store and she bought the same the same ticket her first scratch off ticket and she turned around and showed me that it had $200,000 on it I woke right up that morning I got up and I went and bought one ticket yesterday and one ticket Sunday. My mother always to tell me to watch my dreams congratulations God bless
