Guilford County man wins $25,000 A Year for Life

Kellen Wade of Summerfield tried his luck on a Lucky for Life ticket and won a prize of $25,000 a year for the rest of his life.

Wade purchased his winning Quick Pick ticket at the Sungate Mini Mart on Reidsville Road in Winston-Salem.

His ticket matched all five white balls in the July 22 drawing. The odds of matching all five numbers in a Lucky for Life drawing are one in 1.8 million.

Wade claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Wednesday.

Winners of the second-place prize are guaranteed $25,000 every year for life and have the option of taking a lump sum of $390,000.

Wade chose the lump sum of $390,000 and took home $275,925 after federal and state tax withholdings.

Lucky for Life tickets cost $2 and offers players 10 ways to win a prize. Drawings are now held every night. The top prize is $1,000 A Day for Life.

Lucky for Life is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

10-4 and roger that. Not a fan of the RNG. Example, just for the heck of it I played 2 practice C5 games today. One I picked my numbers the other QP. Won a little something on the ezmatch and double draw on both and $250 on each of the reg draws. Imagine that??? Kinda a like a pool shark letting you win the 1st game or two for nothing or maybe a beer. Then wanting you to bet $20-$50 on the 3rd game. Get real NCEL , that sample C5 game is a joke. In the real game who gets 4 out of 5 in back to back draws? answer, NOBODY

The new LFL using the RNG started on7/19. This guy won on 7/22, so he was the 1st big winner and won't be the last.

Congratulations sir, you may be the last big winner on the lfl. Not had a big winners yet,since they have replaced it with RNG. Here is what necl said in their promotional advertising. Since the game started in North Carolina, someone has won $1,000 A Day For Life four times and $25,000 A Year For Life 35 times. RNG started, this man big win will probably be the last big winner of the game.

Hi Monica, due to the variable price of combo tickets, and the variety of different play options for Pick 3 and Pick 4, the decision was made that Pick 3 and Pick 4 were best played at lottery retail locations for the time being. That said, player feedback is very helpful in determining which games and features the game developers decide to make available online. While Pick 3 and Pick 4 are not available online at the moment, I will make sure the developers are aware that some players are interested in playing those games online in the future. Hi Kenny, when players choose the lump sum, it is typically a smaller amount than the combined annuity payments because the amount of interest that would accrue over the course of 20 years of annuity payments is deducted. When players choose the annuity, the lottery would use this accrued interest towards prize payments. When players choose the lump sum, if they were to leave their prize in savings, then the accrued interest plus the lump sum payment would approximately equal the total combined annuity payment amount after 20 years.

Hi Michael, great question! For the Lucky For Life top prize ($1,000 a day) the retailer incentive is $25,000. For the second prize ($25,000 a year) the retailer incentive is $5,000. For scratch-off wins of $1,000,000 or greater the retailer incentive is $10,000.
