Cherokee County man scores half of Cash 5 jackpot on Fourth of July

Jarrett Miskove of Murphy had a lot to celebrate on the 4th of July after he won half of Sunday’s $316,182 Cash 5 jackpot.

Miskove purchased his winning ticket, using his own numbers, from the Hot Spot on West U.S. 64 in Murphy.

He claimed his half of the jackpot, $158,091, on Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Miskove took home $111,850.

Emmanuel Tucker of Durham won the other half of the jackpot with a ticket purchased from the Bull Market on West Lakewood Avenue in Durham.

Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Thursday’s jackpot is $175,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Hey, thanks for the reply, is there any particular reason it's not televised? I know y'all only have just enough time to do the drawing, so time constraints is the culprit then.

Wow, congratulations on the win. One ticket has this man numbers, and the other had the quick pick numbers, amazing I would say. I watched the cash5 drawing the other night. I did not see the double play drawing. So how is the double play drawing done? RNG? NC Lottery
Hi Roger, thanks for your question. The Carolina Cash 5 Double Play drawing is conducted in exactly the same way as the Cash 5 game. It takes place at WRAL studios in Raleigh under the supervision of an independent auditor - the only difference is that its not televised.
