Wake County woman wins ‘colossal’ $1 million prize

Lucille White of Wake Forest tried her luck on a $30 ticket and won a $1 million prize.

She purchased her winning $10,000,000 Colossal Cash ticket from Lowes Foods on Louisburg Road in Raleigh.

White claimed her prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

She had the choice of taking her prize as an annuity of $50,000 a year for 20 years or as a lump sum of $600,000. White chose the $600,000 lump sum and, after state and federal tax withholdings, took home $424,509.

Sorry to say, but there has never been a 2 million dollar ticket sold in Richmond county. Not a big population here in this county. Have not seen or heard of any big winners either of 100,000, 1million,200,000. Maybe 10,000 every once and awhile. I don't buy that many scratches anyway.

Another Wake County resident. I still can't believe that more top prize winning tickets are not being intentionally sent to Wake. The NCEL knows that Wake is the most populous county which means more ticket sales so it's only logical that more winning tickets are distributed there.

Colossal Cash is probably a good performer for N.C.E.L. Hopefully, there will be a $30 new game with a top prizes of $10 million in the near future.

Wow! Congratulations! Another lucky person walks in and purchased a 30 dollar ticket and wins. I have only bought one 30 dollar ticket since they have been out. Didn't win on it .either.
