Wake County woman wins $113,643 Fast Play jackpot

Genes Kaur of Raleigh tried her luck on a Fast Play ticket and took home a $113,643 jackpot.

She purchased her winning $5 Jackpot 7s from the store she owns, the Speed Mart on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Oxford, on August 18.

Kaur’s jackpot win became the eighth for a $5 Jackpot 7s ticket since the game launched in September 2020. The odds of winning a Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 240,000. A $5 ticket receives 50 percent of the jackpot amount.

She claimed her prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took home $80,404 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

Fast Play’s rolling, progressive jackpot increases with every ticket sold until it is won.

Printed on each Fast Play ticket is the amount of the jackpot when the ticket is sold and how much of that jackpot the ticket could win. Players can also win instant cash prizes on their Fast Play tickets.

Thought worker's OWNERS of stores couldn't play in their store? Yes smells fishy to me also. Your investigating is it not a rule????NC Lottery
Hi Darlene, some retailers have a rule in place prohibiting employees from playing the lottery, but this is not a lottery rule. However, we do an extra investigation to make sure that all of the rules were followed if a player with retailer association claims a lottery prize.

Store owners should not be allowed to buy lottery tickets at their own stores. These types of winners are extremely suspicious and should be investigated thoroughly by the NC lottery.NC Lottery
